Minister of Culture, Stephen Lashley (FP)
Government is receiving technical assistance from UNESCO to support the Division of Culture and Sports in its efforts to develop entrepreneurship in the cultural industries sector.

Minister of Culture, Stephen Lashley, disclosed that a consultant, Andrew Senior, was currently attached to the Division until July 31, in the first instance. He will return to the island in September and November to continue the work.

Mr. Lashley said: "We are finalising the changes to the Cultural Industries Development Bill and there are a number of components built into it and we wanted to get some strategic assistance from UNESCO, so we can move forward very quickly.

"So, while the consultant is here he will be meeting with a number of key government agencies and ministries to look at all the components which impact on the cultural industries development sector."

The consultant has already met with Minister Lashley, officials from the Division of Culture and the National Cultural Foundation. He will also meet with entrepreneurs, associations and other professionals in the cultural industries sector.
